Nobody likes queuing at the airport to get past security and customs. More so, when you have a catch super-early flight at 6 in the morning. 

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to massively speed up the baggage and, passenger checking processes? That’s what researchers at the University of Tasmania in Australia have accomplished.

They invented a device called GreyScan. It is the world’s first trace-detection device that can identify inorganic explosives in under a minute, and its use in mass transit locations such as airports and train stations could help make Australia and the world safer.

The technology was invented by a team led by the University’s researchers and developed in strategic partnership with Grey Innovation, Australian Federal Police, National Institute of Forensic Science, Australian Customs Service and US Homeland Security.
